Marital status: Living with Daniel
E-mail: helena(at)destination-africa.net

Education and work experience: I graduated from upper secondary school (social science program) in 1998. After my graduation I moved to London and worked as an Au Pair for six month. In 1999 I started to work as a saleswoman for a telephone service provider. At the same time I worked part time in a grocery store. In September 2000 I decided to move to Oslo, Norway, where I still live. After two months in a clothing store I got a permanent job as a receptionist in a hotel. A job that I really enjoyed and kept until a couple of months ago. This hotel is a part of a foundation that also runs a youth hostel. Just like summer 2002 I’m now the front desk manager in this hostel.

Travel experience: I went on my first backpack trip in December 1999. Me and my friend, Marlene, travelled for six months through New Zeeland, Australia and Malaysia. (I met Daniel for the first time in Wellington, New Zeeland). Last year, 2002, I went on my most recent journey. This time I travelled trough Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. My favourite destinations so far are New Zeeland and Vietnam. I was really fascinated by the amazing nature and the hospitality among the local people.

Interests: My biggest interest is of course to travel. My first real backpack trip truly whet my appetite and this Africa trip is definitely not going to be my last big journey. I don’t know where I’m going next, maybe to South America.
I gave up my ten year old football career a couple of years ago. These days I rather work out in different kinds of aerobic classes. Sad to say I can admit that my self-discipline is pretty bad at the moment. I don’t wok out as much as I should. Next month, I promise:-)
When I’m not working or “working out” I like to meet my friends, watch a good movie, kick Daniel’s ass in pool and listen to music.

Daniel reveals the truth about Helena: When I moved in with Helena I was, among other things, prepared to live a life with a tidy girl that made me a nice dinner once in a while. But that was definitely a rash conclusion. Pretty soon I noticed that Helena isn’t a professional housekeeper. Instead she must be the world champion when it comes to spreading around clothes, makeup and documents. I don’t even want to get started on the nice dinners... Another typical Helena “thing” is to start discussions of different kinds in the most inconvenient hours, especially late at night. Sometimes this can be pretty trying.
Of course Helena has more good things going than bad. What I like about Helena is that she is an outgoing, charming, good looking, lovely, positive and happy person. This plus the facts that she is intelligent, down to earth and determined makes her the perfect girl for me. I’ve never met a girl that I always have such a good time with.
